PRESENTATION OF EDUCO PHILIPINNES

In Asia, we work in Bangladesh, India and Philippines to ensure the fulfilment of children's rights and well-being. In this continent we collaborate with a total of 140 schools from 138 barangays accross the provinces of Albay, Sorsogon and Catanduanes with a total of 33,000 sponsored children and Young people. Educo Philipppines’ actions focus on child protection, child participation and education.

 

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION?

We are looking for a dynamic individual, with proven experience in working with international organizations focused on children's rights. The Country Director will be responsible for leading the implementation of his/her intervention strategy in an articulated manner to Educo's Global Impact Framework and Global Programmatic Framework.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the development and execution of a high-quality country strategy in accordance with the Country Programmatic Framework, aligned to the Global Impact Framework and the Global Programmatic Framework, relevant to the local context and reflecting global priorities and contribute to Educo's global strategy as a member of the Global Executive Committee.
  • Oversee the recruitment, guidance, and performance of Educo's SMT (Senior Management Team) and its development, demonstrating healthy engagement, strong management teams, culture of innovation, and effective talent management.
  • Strengthen the financial sustainability of programs and operations through a vibrant National Organizational Development Plan (PDO) aligned with the Global PDO, achieving healthy financial ratios and effective budget management, as well as compliance with statutory regulations related to international NGOs in the country.
  • Lead and oversee in-country grant acquisition and management efforts through CODP, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the portfolio and the achievement of annual targets, including sponsorship services and their integration into the program.
  • Monitor the quality of the program in the country; Ensure the quality of the implementation of the programme strategy integrating child protection, disaster risk reduction, effective humanitarian response, including the security framework, in a timely manner, together with the completion of monitoring and evaluation processes.
  • Lead and take all appropriate actions to ensure the promotion anad enforcement of Protection and Ethics Policies (including Child Protection) and follow up on any findings to address any gaps or weaknesses given the uniqueness of the local operating context and best practices.
  • Represent Educo externally, including legal representation, and develop Educo's reputation and brand on the basis of the CODP among government, donors, media, NGOs to position, advocate, network, and raise the profile and reputation among key influencers important to advancing children's rights and well-being.
  • Provide leadership in the development or change management of transformative in-country initiatives based on the GIF to enable the evolution of programs and their delivery models, as well as incentivize innovation and action research development.
  • The director should be the one who guides the country office in the impact of our actions related to the well-being of children, the ultimate goal that we pursue as an organization.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A bachelor's degree is required and complementary studies at the master's level and previous experience at the executive level will be valued.
  • Work experience in leadership roles with increasing responsibilities in an international development-related environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the concepts of children's rights and welfare.
  • Knowledge of working with a focus on children's rights.
  • Knowledge of donor compliance and financial management requirements.
  • Knowledge of strategic planning in a difficult environment, economic, social and humanitarian context in the Philippines or a comparable environment.
  • Strong diplomatic, relationship and communication skills, including through the media, and proven networking and negotiation skills with governmental and non-governmental actors.
  • Proven experience in developing and managing effective and motivated teams, and collaborative work, including remote management.
  • Ability to listen actively, which allows to communicate in an assertive and empathetic way, aimed at efficient leadership.
